Selection Process
The selection for apprentice training will be purely based on the merit list. The merit list will be prepared by considering the average percentage of marks obtained by the applicants in both the Matriculation (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) and ITI examination, giving equal weight to both.
Selection Criteria:
- No written exam or interview is required.
- Candidates with higher merit (based on the combination of 10th grade and ITI marks) will be shortlisted for document verification.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and medical examination.

Medical Fitness and Physical Standards
Candidates shortlisted after the merit list will have to undergo a medical fitness test. The medical certificate must be issued by a government-authorized doctor. The selected apprentices must meet the required medical and physical fitness standards.
Medical Criteria:
- Candidates must be free from any contagious or infectious disease.
- They must also meet the vision and hearing requirements as per the job’s nature.
- Height: Minimum height of 137 cm, and a minimum chest expansion of 3.8 cm.
Job Terms and Conditions
- Apprenticeship training does not guarantee employment in Indian Railways after the completion of training.
- Candidates will be trained in the designated trade for one year and must complete their training as per the rules of the Apprenticeship Act.
- No hostel accommodation will be provided by the railway authorities.
Exam Pattern
There is no written exam for this recruitment. The selection process is entirely based on the merit of 10th and ITI marks. After shortlisting, candidates will be called for document verification and a medical test. Candidates need to carry their original documents along with photocopies during verification.
